The PDXC Youth Running Series began as an idea between a few coaches to improve the access to the sport for many young athletes prior to entering high school.

The goal was simple. Create a fun event. Host it on Sunday afternoons. Don't waste people's time. Bring in experts and passionate high school runners to give back to the sport and see where it goes. By the way we also had a great partner who believed in us to support ....so nobody has to pay a dime to participate. It is free!

Fast forward 4 years what started as a couple of races with 30-40 kids in them to a group taking on and building the momentum with a Middle School State Meet....2010 there were 400 athletes competing the first year PDXC hosted the meet. 2011 the numbers rose to nearly 600. Three days before the 2012 meet we have 62 teams registered with nearly 800 participants signed up and ready to run.

Some of the top runners in the state today at the high school level participated in this event. It has given them an opportunity to test the waters and see how they like this sport.

Hope you can make it out there...we expect to have a few Olympians and some great performances throughout the day.

2012 the PDXC Youth Running Series helped host a meet at the Bill Dellinger Invitational and is helping coordinate the WCC Rookie Run event at their conference championships Saturday, October 27th.

See you at the races,
